Below is a list of various problems and diseases that we can supply remedies for. We feel there are remedies to aid in most situations, if you cannot see what you are looking for please contact us to your requirements.

Be Prepared

Lambs

Yes its that busy time of the year again. One half of you will really be looking forward to it, as it supposedly signals the end of winter & the arrival of spring (depending how early you lamb). If you have been using new tups this year there will be great anticipation to see how their off spring turn out. The other half of you will be dreading the long days & nights of hard work, lack of sleep & missing meals, especially if its as wet & cold as last spring!

Remember to get all your lambing time supplies such as, marker sprays, gloves, lambing lubricant, milk powder, bottles & teats, colostrum, lamb macs, rubber rings, tags, disinfectant, veterinary products, remedies & waterproofs in plenty of time. It is also a good idea to check your heat lamp is working before you need it.

Lambs

We can usually have remedies out to you the next day, but remember we are not open weekends & you cant beat having the remedy there as soon as you need it, as the sooner the correct remedy is used the better the results. Check all remedies that you have left from last year, they will be fine to use if they have been stored away from strong smells in a cool dark place such as a kit case, box or cupboard. Check they are not past the use by date, take the top off & smell them, as long as they smell fresh or slightly of alcohol they are ok. Before using remedies that have not been used for a while re-succuss them by banging the bottle onto the palm of your hand 30 times, this re-energises the remedy.

Abortion

(Enzo / Toxo / Campy / Salmonella)

Use fortnightly from the end of tupping.

Lambing Difficulties

( Ringwomb )

Weekly for the last 4 weeks to ease deliveries.

Footrot

Add to water troughs.

Mastitis

In water troughs weekly for the last 4 weeks.

Pneumonia

Add the remedy into troughs.

Orf

Can be added to troughs from pre lambing to build up immunity through the ewes. Give a squirt to each lamb at birth if you are expecting problems. Add to each feed for pet lambs, as these are often the first to suffer.

Watery mouth + Joint ill

Add the water troughs to build up immunity through mothers & spray each lamb at birth.

Administration

Individual Remedies

Initial dose - 1 spray every min for 5 mins

Acute (eg corpse reviver or bloat)

1 spray every min, reduce with improvement

Chronic (e.g. retained placenta or injury)

Initial dose, followed by 1

Spray 2 - 4 times daily, also add to drinking water as we find this gives the best results.

Apple Cider Vinegar

ACV is a great natural feed supplement suitable for all animals & humans. It is said to aid many illnesses including Arthritis, Digestion, Skin problems such as Ringworm, Mastitis, fighting infections & Bladder stones. At lambing time it is a great tonic to use for ill & convalescing sheep. Add to feed or use as a drench if they are not eating.

Please remember that all remedies can be used alongside conventional medicine. We would never tell you not to use antibiotics. All remedies on this sheet can be used for goats & alpacas, with the vast majority been of use to the cattle owner as well. Corpse Reviver

A must for lambing shed & pocket. Use individually on any lamb that has a difficult birth, swollen head, trouble breathing, wet & cold, shock or is near death. Use as often as every minute & reduce with improvement Also good for ewes after difficult births. This includes all hypothermia remedies.

Last year apparently quite a few of you took a few sprays yourselves on those wet cold days of outdoor lambing with good results!

Orf

If you lamb inside give each lamb a spray at birth & add to troughs. For pets add to milk at each feed. If the lambs have contracted Orf spray once daily & add to water troughs. We have found the quickest results happen in pet lambs as they can get the remedy more often, so try to administer as often as possible.

Retained Placenta

Give to the ewe at least 3 times daily & add to her drinking water.

Mothering On

Give individually to both ewe & lamb. Also add to the drinking water. Add to water in the crate to aid the process especially if you are dealing with stubborn lambs & sheep.

Off Feed

Give individually at least 3 times daily & add to drinking water.

Healthy Lamb

This is a combination remedy from our "health range" it combines remedies to build up the immune system against all common illnesses effecting lambs. Use to protect against possible problems. This remedy is mostly used for pet lambs where it is simply added to each feed it is often used alongside the "Digestive Enhancer", "Bloat" or "Orf" remedies.

Bloat

Use for pet lambs to protect against bloat by adding to their feed. If a lamb is suffering from bloat administer every minute & reduce with improvement. Consider also using a laxative such as liquid paraffin.

Post Lambing

Contains remedies to help the ewe recover from a difficult birth. Helps with bruising, swelling, nerve damage, shock, stress & fear aids the recovery process of muscles, tendons & ligaments. Give every minute at first then reduce also add to drinking water. Can be used alongside Down Sheep.

Kits are very useful to have in the lambing shed, as all remedies are stored safely & to hand. They can be made up specifically to your needs. Use the list below for ideas.
